    European brands, such as LaMer, are now competing with asian K-Beauty and J-Beauty brands.

    Provenance and perceived value have traditionally been linked to price.

    The final logotype pairs a clean simple typeface with an abstracted letterform that doubles as an iconic drop. The sans-serif typeface Panton® was selected because it is upscale yet approachable. The Drop icon can be used to communicate the brand at smaller sizes and in unique applications.

With a 150 year heritage of innovation in golf, running, basketball, tennis and performance walking footwear, Etonic is deep in the development of its next generation of products with a commitment to the highest standards of performance and style.
      Spil Creative was contracted to re-position the brand and develop it’s visual language for it’s 2014 re-launch. The project was driven by a digital first approach with corresponding elements and messaging spiraling out from that central focal point.

      Etonic promotional graphic with Marathon Runner

      Etonic® champions American achievement and confidence while combining innovation and design intelligence to produce athletic footwear that adheres to the highest standards for the most discerning athletes.

      Within days of launching the ‘mash-up’ video produced by Spil© Etonic was able to secure distribution with major retailers such as Barney’s New York and specialty sneaker boutiques Packer Shoes and BAIT.

      Positioning

      We were presented with the opportunity to reposition a classic American brand as a trend leading fashion staple within a market segment dominated by mass-market brands. Our solution links Etonic’s first-mover history with innovation to American exceptionalism.

        Spil© crafted the name FatBear Scooters along with establishing a new logo identity, messaging, and visual language.

        We crafted an appropriation type of name that applies an animal-spirit to an outdoor rugged product. The final logotype is a bold representation of a fat bear. The type’s truncated angles connote functionality that is tough and reliable, while the bear icon is fun, unique and identifiable. The font Kairos Sans’s adds supports these character traits.

              In 2014, kayakers made a total of 105.2 million annual outings. Kayakers made an average of 8.1 outings each in 2014.

              For the target customer, there is significant crossover participation between paddle sports and a range of indoor and outdoor activities, notably walking, hiking, running/jogging, bicycling, camping (within ¼ mile of home), and fishing.

              Kayak fishing is the fastest growing segment in paddle sports. Kayak fishing
              tournaments are trending as pro bass fishing grows. There are hundreds of local kayak fishing tournaments in the US, fueling sales for fishing kayaks and accessories.

              The final logotype is an abstract expression of a wave and an homage to the bridges that connect Brooklyn to the rest of the world. The form’s fluidity exemplifies minimalist design. The slab serif typeface Neue Aachen Pro’s bold character, old world charm, and juxtaposition balance the mark. The BKC Oval Badge is an alternative design to accommodate usage at smaller sizes.
